Writer Nadeem Akbar launches her second novel called Love without Borders

LAHORE: With food festivals and clothing exhibitions doing the rounds in the city off late, a little something for bookworms and reading fans, shortly after the coveted Lahore Literary Festival, was hosted as well. Two delightful back-to-back book launching ceremonies were held in the city, where the writer, editor and publishers got together with the media and the press to put forth their thoughts and their writing impressions. One of these ceremonies, was organised and arranged by the creative team behind Little Red Door that hosted acclaimed writer Nadeem Akbar’s book launch of Love without Borders at her daughter’s residence in Cantt.

It is the second English novel by author Nadeem Akbar, who is an award-winning writer of children’s books. She writes in Urdu as well. She has written two series of five books each for children in Urdu. In some institutions, these books have formed part of the curriculum of certain schools.

This particular one is a love story that transcends race, religion, culture and borders as one can tell by the title of the book. Love without Borders is based on unconditional love. The story of the book takes place in Afghanistan and the US. Akbar’s first book The Afghans, was published by Ferozsons in 2008.

After a short overview and introduction, renowned editor and publisher Mehvash Amin conducted a Q&A session with the writer. Mehvash Amin is also a writer herself. Excerpts from the book were also read out and later, Akbar signed copies of her book for the guests.

The book launching ceremony was attended by ladies from all walks of life. The guests appreciated the literary prowess of the author, and certainly stressed the need to encourage and promote literary personalities in Pakistan. Attendees enjoyed a scrumptious tea and conversation with Akbar as well.
