CTD begins probe into Intizar murder case

KARACHI: Police have handed over the custody of eight Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) officials, booked for their involvement in the murder of 19-year-old Intizar Ahmed, to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for further investigation. DIG CTD Amir Farooqi while speaking to media persons said the CTD has begun investigation into the murder of the boy in Karachi’s posh locality of DHA. Intizar Ahmed was shot and killed by armed ACLC personnel upon failure to stop his car after being signalled by them in Khayaban-i-Bukhari of Defence Housing Authority’s (DHA). Farooqi said the CTD had obtained the custody of all the arrested accused and record of the case. Anyone found to be involved in the murder case would not get any sort of concession, he clarified, adding if any police officer was suspected to be involved in the case would be made a part of the investigation. The Inspector General of Police in Sindh A.D. Khawaja had tasked the CTD to investigate the case under the supervision of DIG Amir Farooqi. Intizar’s father, Ishtiaq Ahmed, has expressed his satisfaction over the handing over the investigation to the CTD.
