Zainab’s murderer, rapist arrested, confirms CM Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday confirmed that the murderer and rapist of 7-year-old Zainab from Kasur has been arrested by the police authorities.

Addressing a press conference alongside Zainab’s father, Shahbaz said that the culprit, identified as 24-year-old Imran Arshad from Kasur, has been arrested by the police after 14 days of commitment and hard work shown by the security officials.

“Imran Arshad, murderer and rapist of Zainab, is a serial killer and a resident of Kasur. He has been arrested by the authorities,” confirmed Shahbaz.

CM Shahbaz also stated that the culprit’s DNA and Polygraph examinations were conducted, during which he confessed to his crime.

He also commended the joint efforts of the security and intelligence institutions of the country while probing Zainab’s case.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader also said that he is in favour of the culprit’s public hanging, but will always abide the law.

The culprit also confessed to rape and murder of several other minor girls in the district.

Ealier today, police sources claimed that the murderer has not only been caught but has also confessed during the investigations to his crime.

The accused is named Imran Arshad and is a neighbour of the family. Police sources claimed that the suspect’s DNA has matched with those found from Zainab’s body.
