‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ wins big at the 24th SAG awards

Drama film ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ which has already garnered enough critical acclaim over the awards it has been winning whisked away another top prize, this time at the prestigious Screen Actors Guild awards.

The film, which revolves around, the life of a woman’s fight for justice won the award for outstanding cast in a film at the 24th Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Gary Oldman labelled his win as ‘a tremendous honour’

Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell also won for the film.

Gary Oldman won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor for the film ‘Darkest Hour’.

Talking further about his win, Oldamn said, “So my feeling is: enjoy the moment in the sun, it will eclipse, it always does, and it will be someone else standing up here next year. I’m enjoying it.”

The award ceremony also highlighted the issue of sexual misconduct and female empowerment.

Actress Kristen Bell was the host at the SAG awards.

“We are living in a watershed moment and as we march forward with active momentum and open ears, let’s make sure we are leading the charge with empathy and diligence. Because fear and anger never win the race,” she said.

Allison Janney won for Best Supporting Actress for ‘I, Tonya’. Claire Foy won in the category for Best Actress for ‘The Crown’, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for Best Comedy Actress for her role in ‘Veep’.

Julie Louis-Dreyfus a total of five awards at the ceremony and became the first TV actress to win five individual honours at the SAG awards.

Renowned actress Nicole Kidman won the SAG for outstanding performance by a female actor in a TV movie or limited series for her role in ‘Big Little Lies’.

Alexander Skarsgard won the outstanding performance by a male actor prize for playing an abusive husband.

‘This Is Us’ won the SAG for ensemble in a drama series prize and Sterling K Brown won Best Male Actor in a drama series award.

Morgan Freeman was awarded an SAG for Lifetime Achievement.
