LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Monday stopped the appointment on 52 seats in Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) on contract, reported Daily Times.
Hearing a petition filed by Chaudhry Shoaib Saleem Advocate, Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan ordered Punjab Chief Secretary and PEF chairman to submit their response by February 14. He warned Punjab government of consequences if it fails to comply with the orders.
According to details, the petitioner had challenged appointments of 126 District Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants as PEF had made those appointments in violation of the 2004 Recruitment Policy. He maintained that despite the case being sub judice, PEF had advertised 52 more vacancies.
He added that the appointments of the abovementioned assistants were illegal and alleged the government if making these appointments to rig the elections. “PEF had also appointed ex-servicemen as monitoring officers in violation of the advertisement and not even a single civilian graduate had been appointed”, he said.
Shoaib Advocate stated that PEF had given undue priority to the ex-servicemen despite that the recruitment policy already provided them extra 5 marks. He alleged that the government had awarded the jobs to the ex-servicemen against heavy bribes and demanded that all the 126 appointments be declared void, halting the process of 52 further appointments.
