KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Sirajul Haq intimidated the Sindh government with a big rally on January 31 if concrete steps are not taken to ensure justice in the Naqeebullah extrajudicial killing.

Sirajul Haq was talking to media outside Naqeebullah’s home in Karachi where he demanded a judicial commission to be formed to investigate the case, the report of which would be submitted to the chief justice of the Supreme Court.

“An officer who has killed 424 people must be taken to the courts, so that no other policeman can kill innocent people,” he added

Haq urged law enforcers to put a stop to ‘encounters’ and take action against SSP Rao Anwar, Sirajul Haq said the justice to the family of slain youth from South Waziristan couldn’t be done with transfers and suspensions orders.

“We are not going to accept any reports if a judicial commission is not formed,” he said

He said that government has divided the nation on ethnic, regional and sectarian grounds only to serve their own interests.

As this case is the talk of the town in which Naqeebullah was among four suspected terrorists killed in an ‘exchange of fire’ headed by former Malir SSP Rao Anwar on January 13 in Shah Latif Town.

“Anwar’s elimination is not enough, we want to see him in court,” he said

The JI chief emphasized that the issue does not relate to only a particular community but is the result of haphazard police cruelty against the city’s residents. He strictly criticized Rao saying that every resident of Karachi says the police officer is a murderer.

JI Chief said we are always against “Extrajudicial killings” and Rao Anwar is a notorious in it.

Rao, used to be called the ‘encounter specialist’ and known for carrying out ‘encounters’ of a controversial nature against outlaws. The majority of such cases remain unquestioned, apart from the few where the families of those shot dead move the court or stage protests but now Naqeeb will be the last one in Karachi, he added

He demanded the chief minister Sindh and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to take strict action against him.

On other hand Anwar has been terminated from his post while six other police officials were suspended after the investigative committee formed over the extrajudicial killing found the 27-year-old Naqeebullah to be innocent. Haq asked for the family security of Naqeeb’s family.

While Police assured the family of Waziristan native Naqeebullah Mehsud, that they would be provided security when they travel to the metropolis to appear before an inquiry committee.

According to sources Karachi Police has decided to register a case against suspended SSP Rao Awar in Naqeebulla Mehsood’s murder case.
