Saba Qamar’s Hindi Medium awarded Best Film at 63rd Filmfare awards

MUMBAI: Saba Qamar’s bollywood debut Hindi Medium was awarded Best Film at 63rd Filmfare awards on Saturday.

Hindi Medium, a story that revolves around a couple’s struggle to secure admission for their child at a top-notch school, also saw multiple nominations including Best Film, Best Director-Saket Chaudhry, Best Actor (Male)-Irrfan Khan, Best Actor (Female)-Saba Qamar, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Deepak Dobriyal.

Qamar shared her excitement via an Instagram post

In another award secured by critically-acclaimed Hindi Medium, actor Irrfan Khan, who played Saba’s husband in the movie, bagged Best Actor award at the prestigious award ceremony.

Qamar, who was commended for her debut performance by film critics, was nominated for Best Actor in a Lead Role (female) category, but only fell-short as the award was claimed by Vidya Balan for Tumhari Salu.

In other awards of the evening, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari won Best Director for Bareilly Ki Barfi, while Rajkummar Rao was awarded Best Supporting Actor (Male) for the same project. Meher Vij bagged Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) for her performance in Secret Superstar, while Best Music Director was awarded to Pritam for Jagga Jasoos.
