LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar on Sunday issued orders to the authorities for removal of all barriers from outside the Model Town residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz.
Hearing the case, CJP criticised the Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed for not following earlier orders of removing barriers from outside the PML-N Member of National Assembly (MNA)’s house.
Zahid Saeed claimed that blockades were a means to provide security to Hamza as there remains a threat to his life, to which Justice Nisar said that the MNA should shift his residence to a secure location.
In reference to the chief secretary’s statement that Hamza is an MNA and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son, CJP responded that “I’m the chief justice of Pakistan, yet there are no blockades outside my house”.
At the end of the hearing, Saeed assured the court of removing all barriers from outside Hamza’s house.
