FIRs to be filed for wall-chalking

LAHORE: The district administration will register FIRs against people involved in wall-chalking.
The decision was taken during a meeting held to review steps to eliminate wall-chalking and to maintain the city beauty. Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sumair Ahmed Syed presided over the meeting.
The DC said that the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) and the district administration would jointly run campaigns to discourage wall-chalking by including area SHOs in this drive.
He directed all assistant commissioners (ACs) to ensure the implementation of the drive under the Punjab Prohibition of Expressing Matters on Walls Amendment Ordinance and to take stern action against responsible persons in case of violation of the instructions. “We will not allow to anyone to spoil the city’s beauty for which we have taken this step,” he said.
Sumair directed officials to immediately remove the posters and wall-chalking on the walls alongside of main roads and streets.
