ISLAMABAD: Mohammad Naseem Akhtar downed fellow Punjab cueist Mohammad Shahbaz 6-3 in the final of the Under-21 National Junior Snooker Championship to retain his title on Friday. The IBSF World U-18 Snooker Champion had frame scores of 63-26, 107-17, 23-60, 60-17, 35-66, 51-64, 61-12, 59-05, 65-53 here at Pakistan Sports Complex’s Billiard and Snooker Halls with a break of 74 in the second frame being the highlight of his triumph. Naseem pocketed Rs50,000 for his victory in the week-long event with Shahbaz bagging 25,000. Mohammad Umer Khan of Punjab also received his prize of Rs50,000 for winning the Under-18 National Junior Snooker Championship with the runner-up Muhammad Mudassir Sheikh collecting 25,000. Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada was the chief guest of the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes amongst the players.
