LAHORE: Renowned writer Munnu Bhai passed away of Friday after long illness.
According to family members, Munnu Bhai was ill for the last several days and was admitted to hospital.
One of the most senior columnists in the country, Munnu Bhai was born in 1933 in Wazirabad, Punjab. His real name was Munir Ahmed Qureshi and wrote with his pen name ‘Munnu Bhai’.
He wrote several dramas for Pakistan Television and one of the most successful dramas in the nation’s history ‘Sona Chaandi’ was also his creation.
He used to write his column ‘Girebaan’ in Daily Jang. Munnu Bhai was also given Presidential Pride of Performance award in 2007.
His funeral prayer will be offered in Riwaz Garden, Lahore today after the Asar prayer and will be laid to rest in Miani Sahab graveyard.
