SHIKARPUR: Police foiled an attempt to kill a woman when she was locked in the room of her house over an allegation of honor killing at village Dili Jaan Shar next to Pir Dost Muhammad Shah area of Khanpur, in the limits of Faizo Police Station, some 40 kilometers off from here, on Saturday. According to police, following on the information, In-charge Faizo police picket, Manthar Shar raided at village and succeeded to recover a woman named Sughra, 23, wife of Nawaz Shar from locked room of the house, later she was handed over to SHO Khanpur. Ayub Dogar, the SHO Khanpur police station, sent her to Women Complaint Centre Shikarpur to produce before honorable court for further action. Sughra said, “A cousin of my husband named Waryam Shar was wanted to kill me over the false allegation of “Kari” with his other close relative named Ahsan Shar and locked me in a room of the house and he was ready to kill me.” However, she wanted to go with her brother Qaim Shar. The police told journalists that she would be produced before court. Honour killing is a sensitive issue and has claimed several lives.
