The meeting was convened in continuation of Chief Justices Conference held in Karachi on Jan 13, 2018 on Judicial Reforms. The meeting discussed the issue of improper process service that causes inordinate delay in dispensation of justice.
The meeting was also attended by registrar and other senior officers of the apex court. Talking to the participants on the issue of delay in process service, the CJP said that most of the processes need to be corrected.
He emphasized upon the need of improvements in the system through application of modern technology, so that the prompt relief can be granted to aggrieved people.
The CJP asked them to take concrete efforts to bring the house in order and emphasized that if service was delayed in future, strict action would be taken against the delinquents. He also informed them that most criminal cases suffered on account of faulty investigation by police and weak prosecution. Therefore, he directed for measures to impart training to improve the standard of investigation and prosecution.
The meeting discussed in detail the different issues regarding process service that includes conflicting service reports, illegible service reports, delay in submission of record and illegible FIR etc. The CJP resolved to take every step in order to address the issues of delay in court cases.
