Woman, two children found dead

LAHORE: A woman and her two children were found dead in their home on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Ayesha, her two-year-old son Ayyan Ali, and eight-year–old daughter Noor. According to police, Ayesha’s husband, Usman, had married twice. He started living with Ayesha in a rented house Green Town.

A rescue official said that Usman told police that he came back home after two days. “No one responded after he kept knocking on the door. Later, Usman broke the window and entered the house where he found his family lying dead on a bed,” police said.

Upon being informed, police and rescue teams reached the spot and collected evidence. Police said that there were no signs of torture or assault on the bodies. “The deaths occurred due to either suffocation or suicide. Someone might have poisoned the family. We are working to ascertain the cause of death,” police said. Locals said that they often saw both the husband and wife quarrelling with each other over domestic issues. A number of locals, family members reached the spot after the discovery of the bodies. A police officer said Usman had been arrested for investigation. He said that initially it seemed that the three victims had been poisoned. “However, the actual cause behind the tragic incident will be ascertained after the postmortem report is available,” he said. The bodies were taken to a hospital for postmortem examination.
