LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination in a book launched by the banned outfit’s spearhead Abu Mansoor Arif on Tuesday.
The book, ‘Inqilab Mehsood South Waziristan – From British Raj to American Imperialism’ states the Bhutto was assassinated because “She allegedly planned to collaborate with the US against the mujahideen if she returned to power.”
The book also claims that two bombers were assigned the task to carry out the attack, one of whom succeeded in firing a shot at the former prime minister before detonating his explosives jacket.
Bhutto was killed in a suicide attack on December 27, 2007 in Rawalpindi.
