RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa remarked on Tuesday that Pakistan and Sri Lanka are two nations that have suffered a lot at the hands of terrorism.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) director-general Major Asif Ghafoor presented details of Gen Bajwa’s visit to Sri Lankan in a post that said: “He (Gen Bajwa) said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka are probably the only two countries which understand what it takes to defeat the menace of terrorism.”
COAS, who is on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka, met with top military officials and commended the Lankan army’s efforts in eliminating terrorism from the region. Gen Bajwa also held meetings with chiefs of Sri Lankan army, navy and the air force and was presented with a guard of honour in all of the three service headquarters.
“During the meetings various new initiatives and ongoing projects were discussed to improve the existing defence ties between the two brotherly countries,” the statement further added.
