RAWALPINDI: Over 200 schools including primary, middle and secondary located in Rawalpindi are lacking the facility clean drinking water.
According to documents revealed the Punjab education department has sought the details of all the schools functioning in Rawalpindi.
According to sources, the funds in the budget have been allocated to supply clean drinking water in the schools, however, the authorities have failed to enforce and utilise the funds available water.
The affected schools are located in the seven Tehsils including Kotli Sattain, Murree, Kahuta, Kalar Syedain, Taxila, Gujar Khan and Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, a Punjab Education Department spokesperson said that the provincial government was initiating a project to supply clean drinking water to schools located in Rawalpindi, while a list of the affected schools was also being prepared which would be forwarded to the Punjab government for approval.
