BAHAWALPUR: A three-day anti polio campaign which aims to vaccinate 641,000 children under the age of five kicked off here on Monday. The campaign was inaugurated by ADC (Rev) Ehsan Ahmed Jamali at the Outdoor Department of the Victoria Hospital.
Jamali urged the officials concerned not to leave any child under five unvaccinated and that negligence and mistakes which would affect the campaign’s efficacy would not be tolerated.
According to District Health Authority, 1,463 teams have been formed for the campaign, including 1,163 mobile teams and 159 stationery teams, which will administer polio drops to children at the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital, Civil Hospital, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, basic healthcare units and rural healthcare centres and 123 mobile teams would administer vaccinations at general bus stops, wagon stands, railway stations and toll plazas while 18 teams will perform their duties at markets.
