COAS reiterates resolve to focus on Balochistan’s uplift

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has reiterated his resolved to support Balochistan and said the province was his prime focus.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Bajwa during his visit to Quetta Garrison on Friday said, “Balochistan is my prime focus and prosperity of people in Balochistan at par with other provinces is the main objective.”

The army chief on the occasion was given a detailed briefing on the security situation in Balochistan at Headquarters Southern Command and Headquarters FC Balochistan (North).

He was apprised of the significant reduction in sectarian killings in the province.

The COAS was informed that there had been phenomenal reduction in sectarian targeting, while terrorists in desperation were now targeting law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and soft targets. General Bajwa also appreciated the achievements of the army, FC, police, intelligence and other agencies including provincial administration towards the improvement of the security situation. He also hailed efforts in the socio-economic domain, which resulted in the willingness of militants to surrender.

The army chief also interacted with officers and soldiers and appreciated their morale and motivation. He further said the army was for the people of Pakistan and “shall continue to perform its duty with their full support”.

Earlier, upon his arrival, General Bajwa was received by Southern Command Commander Lieutenant General Aamer Riaz.
