KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has on Monday expressed his grief over the death of Intezar Ahmad, the 19-year-old youth who was shot dead by police officials in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Sunday allegedly for not stopping the car despite their instructions.
The chief minister said that the government will provide justice to the family of the deceased at any cost. Meanwhile, eight police officials have so far been detained in the case.
It is pertinent to mention here that Intezar Ahmad had recently returned from Malaysia and had had a fight with two men a day before his death. One of the men was son of a lawyer while the other one’s father was a police official.
Talking to media on Sunday, the counsel of Intezar’s family had said that there were 18 holes of bullets found from the scene and four from the car, ‘proving’ that the police had shot with the intention to kill and not to stop the deceased.
Intezar’s father Ishtiaq Ahmad had requested Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa to help bring the culprit to the book. “All I want is justice”, Ishtiaq said in the press conference as he broke down into tears.
