KARACHI: Dr Hasan Zafar Arif, senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London (MQM-London), has on Sunday been found dead in a car near Ibrahim Hyderi.
The dead body has been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College. There are contradictory reports surfacing though whether there were marks of torture on the body or not. The cause of death will be identified after post-mortem.
MQM-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar has condemned the ‘martyrdom’ of Dr Hasan Zafar Arif and says that this could be an attempt to disrupt the peace of Karachi. He said that he may have had political differences with the deceased but ‘it is a horrible situation; he has been martyred, murdered’.
Sattar demanded a probe into murder and said that the provincial government and the law-enforcement agencies must find and punish the perpetrators.
