Punjab govt orders arrest of 600 ‘corrupt’ officers

GUJRANWALA: Punjab government has issued orders to arrest about 600 corrupt officers and officials in Gujranwala Division wanted to anti corruption department in corruption and fraud cases. Anti corruption sources told that there were about 55 gazetted and 545 non gazette government employees against whom enquires have been completed and they were declared guilty by the enquiry officers. Sources said government of Punjab has issued a letter to anti corruption that all the guilty officers and officials may be arrested and their details will be forwarded to the provincial government for further action. It was also told that 280 cases against the said 600 corrupt officers and officials have been got registered in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Mandi Baha ud Din, Hafizabad and Narowal districts and besides issuing of their arrest warrants anti corruption officers have failed to arrest them.
