Abdul Quddus Bizenjo elected as new CM of Balochistan

LAHORE: Members of the Balochistan Assembly on Saturday elected Abdul Quddus Bizenjo as new chief minister of the province days.

The position fell vacant after former chief minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri resigned from the office as the opposition threatened to de-seat him through a no-trust motion.

The new CM is expected to take oath as Balochistan CM at 3pm today.

The assembly session headed by Speaker Raheela Hameed Durrani began at 11.30 am. Durrani made the formal announcement after Bizenjo secured 41 votes and Liaquat Agha 13.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid candidate Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party member Agha Liaquat vied for the top office of the province.

Abdul Rahim Ziyaratwal, a PkMap candidate, withdrew his nomination from the race.
