WAPDA down PTV by nine wickets to face UBL in final

KARACHI: Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt played dazzling knocks of 87 and 75 respectively as Pakistan WAPDA thrashed PTV by nine wickets in the semifinal of the One-day Cup for Departments at NBP Sports Complex here on Friday. WAPDA will take on United Bank Limited (UBL) in the final to be played at UBL Sports Complex on Sunday (tomorrow). Batting first, PTV made 231 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Saud Shakeel with 47 was the highest scorer for the losers. Fast bowler Muhammad Irfan claimed three wickets for 3 for 33 while Mansoor Amjad and Khalid Usman claimed two wickets apiece. In reply, WAPDA reached home for the loss of one wicket in 43 overs. Kamran faced 86 balls and Salman faced 103 balls. The other main contributor was Bismillah Khan with 67 off 70 balls.
