Arts councils pay tribute to filmmaker Nazrul Islam

LAHORE: The Alhamra Arts Council (LAC) in collaboration with the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) arranged an evening of tribute for legendary iconic Pakistani filmmaker Nazrul Islam on Thursday, January 11 2018. Nazrul Islam died at the age of 55, in 1994 in Pakistan.

The event was held at Alhamra Arts Council on his death anniversary in which filmmakers, office bearers and officials of both the above-mentioned organisations and Nazr lovers attended the event. Few leading names included that of Shahzad Rafique, Hassan Askari, Salman Shahid, Pervaiz Kaleem, Khalid Gayas and Imran Nazrul Islam, together with Additional Secretary and Executive Director PUCAR Saman Raye.

Speakers said that late Nazrul Islam’s contribution to the Pakistani film industry can undoubtedly not be matched. They said that the way he put human feelings and emotions into films could be felt effortlessly in his movies. He delivered magic to his audience by making films such as Aaina, Bandish, Ehsas, Haseena Man Jaye Gi, Zindagi and others. His immemorial work says it all.

During his speech, Executive Director Capt (R) Atta Mohammad Khan said that his efforts wouldn’t be forgotten for hundreds of years. He further added that people like late Nazarul Islam are not born in centuries.
