Karachi: The first Pakistan International Film Festival (PIFF) will be held from March 29 to April 1, Karachi Film Society announced on Friday.
During the press conference, PIFF organisers said overseas delegates of filmmakers, artists and professionals, and many other renowned names would grace the festival.
The festival will comprise film premieres and special screenings in the categories of feature-length films, documentaries and short films.
Workshops for young filmmakers would also be held during the festival where they can learn the craft from renowned mentors.
The PIFF will hold a special mobile screening programme in which selected films will be shown to young audiences at different locations of the city.
Special panel discussions on women’s role in Film and TV and seminars on the Pakistani film industry will also be the part of the festival.
Karachi Film Society, with a partnership of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), would hold this event.
Several famous personalities including former senator Javed Jabbar, PNCA Director General Jamal Shah and film-maker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy attended the PIFF launch.
