YAZMAN: After Kasur, yet another incident on Friday surfaced as a man named Muhammad Zulfikar Ali was caught trying to rape a 5-year-old girl as she started shouting at the top of her voice.

FIR lodged by girl’s mother in Head Rajkan Police Station. (Names of the victim and family have been concealed).

According to FIR lodged by the girl’s mother in Head Rajkan Police Station, parents of the child had gone out to a nearby piece of land to mow the grass when they suddenly heard their girl screaming.

The two ran back to their home and realised that the screams were coming from the neighbouring house where the offender was trying to rape the girl and had her clothes taken off.

As he saw the parents coming, Zulfikar managed to flee his home. However, he was caught by the locals and was handed to the police, where he admitted to his crime upon interrogation. The accused is under arrest.

This is at least the third case to have surfaced in Punjab since the beginning of the year. First, it was Zainab from Kasur whose body was found from a heap of garbage on Tuesday, sparking protests throughout the city that resulted in two killings at the hands of the police who shot straight at the protesters.

On Thursday, another dead body of a Grade 6 student was found from Patoki, Kasur from sugar cane fields of a village, Dholan Chak 27. It is feared that the boy was raped before being strangled to death but the body has been shifted to the hospital and the post-mortem report is still awaited.
