Four terrorists arrested from DG Khan, Gujranwala

RAWALPINDI: Four terrorists were arrested in separate raids by security agencies from Gujranwala and Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday. The first joint intelligence based operation was conducted in DG Khan by Pakistan Rangers Punjab, police and intelligence agencies. “Two terrorists’ facilitators gangs, including women operatives, were arrested from Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday. A huge quantity of illegal automatic weapons, ammunition and uniforms of law enforcement agencies were seized from the possession of these gangs,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said later in a press statement. The weapons and ammunition was being transported for terrorist activities in major cities of Punjab and Sindh. Meanwhile, the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an operation on an intelligence report in Gujranwala and arrested two terrorists of a banned outfit. The CTD personnel raided a house near Gujranwala More. “Two terrorists were taken into custody. The arrested terrorists were identified as Muhammad Sufiyan and Zaheerud Din,” the CTD said. CTD officials said that explosives, detonators and weapons were seized from the arrested terrorists. The suspects were taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation. “The arrested terrorists belonged to a banned organisation and were planning to target government installations in the city,” officials said.
