KARACHI: Saad Gulzar, the son of Supreme Court of Pakistan Judge Justice Gulzar Ahmed, escaped unhurt after unidentified armed men allegedly opened fire on his vehicle in Karachi’s Korangi neighbourhood on Wednesday.
“Apparently, it was an attempt of robbery or car snatching,” said Korangi SHO Khalid Abbasi. “But the culprits had no idea about police guard sitting inside the car.”
The driver was on the driving seat, the police guard was sitting next to him while Saad Gulzar was sitting on the back seat of his Corolla car.
Following the incident, extra contingent of law enforcers immediately reached the site and inquired about the incident. Police officials said that armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on Saad’s car near Vita Chowrangi in Korangi Industrial Area.
However, the suspects fled away due to retaliatory fire from the security guard, travelling with the son of SC judge.
Police officials said that the son of Justice was on way to his office when unidentified armed motorcyclists shot at his car.
Saad Gulzar was signalled to stop his car by assailants riding on motorcycles but he did not stop after which the armed motorcyclists opened fire at his vehicle.
An exchange of fire between Saad’s guards and culprits also took place. However, the attackers escaped unhurt.
Saad Gulzar works as a project manager at a private firm. SHO Abbasi said that at least three armed men riding a motorcycle were behind the incident while the case of the incident has yet to be registered.

I was sitting at a roadside teashop when armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing, causing fear and panic,” he narrated. “One of the armed men fell down on the road and his comrades reached to rescue him when we attempted to catch him.”
