ISLAMABAD: Pakistan players Kamran Akmal and Ahmad Shahzad have been appointed captains of Lahore Blues and Lahore Whites, respectively for the forthcoming National One-day Cup. The event is scheduled to be held during the last week of January in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The Lahore Region removed former tainted Test cricketer Salman Butt to induct Shahzad as the Whites skipper and with Mohammad Hafeez away on New Zealand tour with the national side, Kamran was named to lead Lahore Blues. However, following the induction of new office-bearers last October, Salman, Hafeez and even Wahab Riaz are not in the likeminded list of the new body. An official of the Lahore Region said both Salman and Wahab had been involved in forcing the coach and manager to include their recommended players in the playing XI during the recent National T20 Cup.
Javed Amin has been appointed as Lahore Blues team manager, while former Test umpire Mian Mohammad Aslam will manage the Lahore Whites side.
