LAHORE: Protests have erupted in Kasur following the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl. A shutter down strike is also being observed in Kasur today.
The girl had gone missing five days prior to being found dead. The family and community took to the streets on Wednesday morning to protest after the horrific incident forcing all markets to shut down. The initial postmortem report of the minor said that she was strangled to death after being raped multiple times.
Angry protesters vandalised public property and cars inside the vicinity along with pelting stones at police officers. One person has been killed in the protest, while two people have been reported injured.
Protesters are demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
On Tuesday, the protesters had blocked roads and closed markets. Incident of protesters pushing police officers were also reported near Ferozepur Road.
