Opposition seeks resign from KP Assembly speaker

PESHAWAR: Opposition leader at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday demanded resign from Speaker Asad Qaiser after allegations of illegal property and other corruption charges.

The KP Assembly session resumed with Deputy Speaker Dr Mehar Taj Roghani in the chair, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Aurangzeb Nalota said and raised the point that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Government always claim of justice but despite it its own speaker has charges of corruption.

He further said that PTI chairman always alleged the Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz for corruption as well as Speaker National Assembly but now its own speaker has alleged of corruption charges but PTI chairman was silent over it. He further informed that PTI government always claim that they bring changes and make the institution transparent but there was no single evidence the PTI has proved against anyone of corruption .

There was pin drop silent at assembly session when the PTI former minister Zia Ullah Afridi alleged its own government and said that he was more than one year in prison but nothing has been proved against him.

He added that the provincial government has made Ihtesab Commission but it was made for political scoring, adding that he was arrested and interrogated by an Ihtesab member who was not part of the commission.

He informed and said that it was not Ihtesab Commission but it was 420 Commission, adding that he was arrested and was in locked as nothing has been proved against him. He added that as there are corruption charges against the speaker and already a complaint has been send to the National Accountability Bureau and NAB has been started investigation, adding that now it has been the moral of the speaker to silently present his resign until the investigation has been not proved.

Roshad Khan of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz said and criticized the PTI government that they were blaming on the people but when their turn came and they were alleged in corruption then they were not present themselves for accountability. He further added that we were not sitting in the chair of that person he has corruption charges, adding that PTI government were not releasing developmental fund in their constituency.

Irrigation minister Shah Farman said that KP government has passed four bill including Ihtesab Commission, Whistle Bloor, and Conflict of Interest bill to stopped corruption in the province. On the speaker corruption allegation, Shah Farman said that every day NAB has received more than 200 corruption complaints and the charges of corruption on the speaker assembly was a complaint. On the ADP issue Shah Farman said that PML-N should compare the developmental project of PTI in KP and then also compare it in central government of PML-N in Punjab, adding that in Punjab the PTI members were totally ignore in the developmental projects. He further informed that in his constituency Advisor to the Prime Minister Ameer Muqam was inaugurating Gas connection to the people, adding that the PML-N members were also involved in such practice.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Perveez Khattak said that the speaker is not a criminal nor he alleged in corruption charges, adding that a simple complaints was received by NAB as there was no name on the complaints letter.

He added that all the property of speaker assembly has a record with Election Commission despite that after the complaints the speaker again send all his documents of his property to the election commission.
