Arms and ammunition recovered on a tip-off in Landi Kotal

KHYBER AGENCY: The Khasadar force recovered arms and ammunition in a raid carried out here in the Zergraan area of Tehsil Landi Kotal on Saturday.

Political Tehsildar Landi Kotal Shams-ul-Islam said that on a tip off of the Khasadar personnel they raided a hideout in Zergraan, the outskirt locality of Landi Kotal Bazaar and recovered 55 SMGs and 1150 rounds, concealed in bags.

One local identified as Gul Qayum s/o Akhtar Qayum was taken into legal custody and shifted to Landi Kotal lock up for investigation, the official added.

Walk to raise importance of education held: To raise education consciousness among the tribesmen, an education awareness walk was conducted in Landi Kotal Bazaar on Saturday.

The noble activity was organized under the auspices of the Khyber Students Association (KSA) and was attended by dozens of locals and students from Peshawar educational institutions including members of the civil society.

The rally started at Bacha Khan Square, and the participants marched to the local press club while holding banners carrying massages of spreading education and the marchers chanted slogans in favor of their demands.

President KSA, Yasir Shinwari, General Sectary Junaid Shinwari, Roman Afridi and Nauman Sher who were leading the walk said that getting education was the basic right of every human being and it was obligatory on the state to provide education to its citizens at their door step.

“The government should concentrate and initiate steps to enhance education ratio in the tribal belt so that it can bring balance with other parts of the country”, they remarked.

Leaders of the tribal students’ community were on the view that with unmatched sacrifices of tribesmen and the security forces, peace had been restored in Federally Administer Tribal Area (FATA) and suggested the government to kick off development schemes given priority to education to remove sense of deprivation among the tribal.

At the end the walk dispersed peacefully.
