LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz addressed a public rally in Sargodha.
Addressing the rally in Kot Momin, Nawaz lamented that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was not punished by the courts even though he admitted he owns an offshore company, while he was sent home despite being an elected prime minister.
“You hurl allegations at others but you yourself are a very corrupt man,” Nawaz said about Imran.
Nawaz said that the huge turnout of the supporters at the rally is a testament to his popularity, terming it a ‘referendum”.
The ousted prime minister further said that due to the verdict by top court, Pakistan’s journey of progress has slowed down.
“Inflation has increased due to this verdict,” he said. “After winning elections in 2018, PML-N will bring justice to every door of the country,” he said
While addressing the gathering, she said that PML-N ended load-shedding. “Before 2013 the load-shedding was at its peak and now it has ended,” she said.
“Everywhere we go people say to us they love Nawaz Sharif,” said Maryam.
She further said that before 2013 there was load-shedding but PML-N ended it in just four years. “Our party worked for the welfare of people day and night,” she asserted.
“There is a fixed match behind ‘Sadaqat’ of Imran Khan,” she said.
This is the PML-N chief’s first major public rally after his famed GT Road Rally following his disqualification as prime minister by the Supreme Court on July 28.
