ISLAMABAD: Federal minster for water and power Khawaja Asif said in the National Assembly (NA) that big politicians are involved in electricity pilferage adding that “I was stopped when I presented the list of power stealers in the house”.

There will be no deal on power pilferage and the entire matter will be presented in the house, he said this during question hour session in NA Thursday.

Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah said that load shedding is observed for 18 hours in urban areas and 22 hours in rural areas of Sindh.

Due to electricity pilferage, Sindh, Balochistan and K-P provinces are being defamed, he added.

The amount of electricity which is stolen in Lahore is more than the electricity pilferage in two DISCOS in Sindh but it is not highlighted anywhere, he held.

More than 50 percent electricity grid stations in Sindh are much older and same is the situation in Balochistan, he said.

The rates of electricity in Pakistan are very high. The electricity generation in this year is same what was in year 2013.In 2013; electricity short fall was 4,000 megawatt while now it is 5,000 mega watts.

“Give us electricity. We assure we will take steps for payment of electricity bills and prevention of power pilferage, he remarked.
