KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday gave a one-week ultimatum to the federal government and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) to ensure continued gas supply to the province by ending gas load-shedding.
Speaking on the floor in Sindh Assembly, Murad Ali Shah said that the province has the right on its gas production under Article 158 of the constitution, but Sindh was being neglected where people, including industries, faced gas load-shedding, resulting in the loss of economic activities.
Giving an ultimatum, he said, “We will suspend gas supply connections to other provinces if gas load-shedding does not end. We will storm into the company’s office and take over the charge.”
Moreover, he said that his demand has support of all political parties of the province including Jamaat Islami (JI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal cabinet had approved Board of Investment (BOI)’s summary by lifting a countrywide moratorium on new gas connections yesterday.
