Nation cannot be defeated due to sacrifices of its sons: CM

LAHORE: Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that the nation could never be defeated due to the sacrifices of its brave sons.

He said this while visiting the Johar Town residence of 21-year old Second Lt Abdul Moeed, who embraced martyrdom in North Waziristan. He met with the parents and other siblings of the martyred Abdul Moeed and offered fateha for the departed soul. The chief minister paid rich tribute to the sacrifice of Martyred Abdul Moeed for the country and said that he had set an example of bravery and courage by embracing martyrdom at the younger age. “The brave sons of the country sacrificing their lives for the motherland are our real heroes and the sons like Abdul Moeed are pride of the soil. Abdul Moeed has been blessed with martyrdom and it is the part of our faith that martyrs live forever. The people of Pakistan are proud of the great sacrifice of Martyred Abdul Moeed,” he said.

He said that brave sons like him have written a new history of peace with their precious blood and their sacrifices will never be forgotten. “The nation whose sons are filled with the passion to sacrifice their lives cannot be defeated by any enemy,” he said.

While talking to the parents and other family members of Martyred Abdul Moeed, the chief minister said that he had set a great example by sacrificing his life for the future of the country. “I salute the courage of parents of the martyr and the whole nation sides with the family of Martyred Abdul Moeed,” he said.

He also announced to attribute a project in Vehari to the name of the martyr.

Police torture: An elderly couple from Multan that was subjected to police torture earlier met with Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at Model Town on Friday. Muhammad Idrees, along with his wife Nasim Bibi and daughter Mediha, thanked the chief minister for resolving their 30-year-old land dispute and said that they were thankful to the chief minister from the core of their hearts.

Nasim Bibi said that the issue pertaining to their land had been solved and they were happy. “The chief minister has won our hearts by announcing financial aid for the marriage of my two daughters. The chief minister has emerged as a strong support to our hapless family to provide justice to us,” she said. Talking on the occasion, the chief minister said that providing solution to their problem was his duty which had been amicably settled and he was happy that the long-awaited issue has been solved at last. “I had promised to you that justice will be ensured and now the problem has been settled in accordance with the law,” he said.

The chief minister also announced Rs 0.5 million each for Idrees’ daughters as financial grant for their marriages. The Board of Revenue member, the Livestock secretary and other officials were also present on the occasion. Multan Division commissioner and RPO attended the meeting through video link.

Condolences: Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Zubaida Appa, sister of Fatima Suriya Bajya and famous writer Anwar Maqsood. In his condolence message, the chief minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Air Marshal (r) Asghar Khan. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the gallantry services of Air Marshal (r) Asghar Khan for Pakistan Air Force and said that he was a great patriot and truthful Pakistani. He extended sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
