KP decides to amend power policy to facilitate investors

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has decided to bring amendments in provincial power policy for facilitating investors through in easy processing and providing more incentives to them. Investment friendly environment will be provided to investors power policy.

Power sector working officers who remained deprived of promotion for long period have been promoted to onward grades. Restructuring process has been approved in PEDO in order to strengthen and make the organization more useful. In coming three months three hydropower projects having capacity of 57 MW will be completed and start power generation of cheap electricity.

This was decided and approved by PEDO’s board of directors in its 17th meeting held under the chairmanship of chairman Board Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed. PEDO BoD meeting was also attended by secretary Energy & Power Engr. Naeem Khan, secretary finance Ali Raza Bhutta, additional secretary home Shahidullah Khan, Senator Nauman Wazir, PESCO Chief Engr. Shabeer Ahmed, SCCI president Haji Afzal, Engr. Latif Khan, Abdullah Shah, Ruhail Akram, Fuad Ishaq, PEDO Chief Akbar Ayub Khan. During the meeting certain amendments were proposed in power policy in order to make the investment procedure more easier for investors and facilitate them to bring more investment in the province.

The Board approved long standing promotion cases of PEDO’s officers of 18, 17 & 16 grades to onward grades and also approved the restructuring process of PEDO in order to strengthen the organization.

A detailed briefing was given regarding the progress of work in ongoing energy projects and informed that in coming 3 months three hydropower projects of 57 MW will be completed and start power generation. The same electricity will be utilized in industrialization of province. Construction work is being started in Balakot hydropower project of 300 MW. Moreover, the construction work on 356 mini micro hydropower projects, 84 MW Matiltan HPP, 41 MW Koto HPP, 69 MW Lawi HPP is going on in full swing. Future plan has been decided to start more power projects in KP.
