LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar said on Wednesday that the Supreme Court (SC) would focus on health and education throughout 2018.

The chief justice passed these remarks while hearing a suo motu case on the complaints regarding illegal lease of the forest department land in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to reports, political personalities and the bureaucracy connived to lease out forests department’s protected land to a private company Samson for 33 years, without caring for rules and regulations, for construction of chairlift and skiing resort.

During the hearing, Justice Saqib Nisar also remarked that the natural beauty of Chakwal’s Katas Raj Temple has been ruined due to neglect on part of the concerned departments.

Irregularities in the forest and environment departments are result of non-implementation on court orders, said the chief justice, adding now everyone has to follow the orders of the apex court.

Moreover, the court also stressed that the forests would be properly monitored now.
