LAHORE: Opposition parties in the Punjab Assembly Friday criticised the Punjab government for unscheduled electricity load shedding and provision of “low quality uniform” to Punjab Police.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a resolution in the Notice Branch of the assembly on Friday against the unannounced power outages. The resolution was filed by PTI’s legislator Malik Taimoor Masood. The resolution calls for end to unscheduled load shedding, especially in hospitals, mosques and industries. It says that the unscheduled power outages have pushed the industry on the verge of collapse.

Separately, Khurram Jahangir Wattoo of the PPP filed an adjournment motion against the new ensemble for Punjab Police.

The resolution states that the colour and the quality of police uniform are below the international standards. It claims that the government has not provided socks and T-shirts with the uniform to policemen.

Both the movers of the resolution have expressed hope that the issues will be discussed in the upcoming session of the Punjab Assembly this month.
