Transporters, citizens reject hike in prices of petroleum products

LAHORE: Transporters and citizens have rejected the new prices of petroleum products and shown strict reaction on it by condemning this act of Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz government on Monday. Another side, District Administration Lahore has also fixed new prices of edible items by increasing the prices of three edibles, reduced on ten major edible items while eleven edible items’ prices have been maintained.

A wagon driver – Ali Ahmed said that I am running a wagon on rent to run house kitchen and fulfill the wishes of my beloved family for last two years after bearing a big loss in a cloth business. He said that it was already difficult to me for bearing a daily expenses with meager income that generate from wagon after hectic work but government is not taking good decision by increased petroleum price.

A female driver – who run a vehicle and giving services to students of picking and drop for last several years said that PMLN government has been failed to deliver relief citizen and made the life difficult due to the unemployment, price inflation and corruption. She demanded Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to revise his decision and restored the old prices of petroleum products.

Citizen demanded to Prime Minister to withdraw the decision that was taken on the recommendation of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) about increase in prices of petroleum. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Sadia Sohail has also submitted a resolution against hike in petrol prices in Punjab Assembly.

DC office has issued a notification in this regard here on Monday. According to notification, there are only three edible items on which 5 rupees per kg have been enhanced. The prices of Masoor Daal (Bareek), Mong Daal washed, Mong Daal unwashed, Black Chana (Mota) local, Black Channa (Bareek) local and Basin have been reduced to five rupees each.

Similarly, the prices of Masoor Daal (Moti) imported, Mash Daal washed imported, Mash Daal washed imported, Mash Daal unwashed imported and White Chana have been reduced to 10, 25, 40 and 4 rupees per kg respectively.

Further, only five rupees per kg has been in the prices of Rice Basmati New, Rice Basmati old and Red Chilli.

It is also worth mentioning here that District Administration has maintained the old prices of eleven items which include Rice 386 New, Gram Daal Bareek, Gram Daal (Special), sugar, roti, Naan, Khamiri, Milk, Yougurt, Mutton and Beef.

Sumair Ahmed Syed has directed all Price Control Magistrates to forthwith implement on new notification so that maximum relief could be providedto the citizens as earlier as possible. He directed them if any violation is found than take strict action against shopkeeper.
