KARACHI: The Sindh’s first school, Narayan Jagannath Vaidya (NJV) Government High School is suffering from frantic academic environment due to the tussle between faculty members and its adopters over the control of executive matters, Daily Times has leant.

The tug of war has been flamed; NJV’s adaptor organization (Akhuwat) and senior faculty members have submitted a long-listed complaint letters against each others for inquires in the Schools Education Department. The concerned authorities have however failed to quench the flashpoint of their blame game.

The NJV government school is located on M.A Jinnah Road which is one of the oldest schools of subcontinent. It was set up in 1855 by Narayan Jagannath Vaidya who was a famous philanthropist of his time.

Akhuwat, a welfare organization, had adopted NJV School around two years ago, through public-private partnership under an agreement with Sindh Education Foundation (SEF), a semi-autonomous organization, since April 2015. Afterwards when SEF extended the pact with ‘Akhuwat’ it resulted in difference of opinion being developed among NJV’s faculty members and Akhuwat’s staff.

The NJV’s senior faculty member, Muhammad Nawaz Amur has written a complaint letter to the secretary education. In which he reveals, that the adaptor organization (Akhuwat) has sold out antique NJV’s property without any proper procedure and has used low quality material for construction resulting loss to NJV and misuse of public funds.

Another senior official of the education department, Abdual Wahab Abbassi has claimed that huge amount is being misappropriated by Mafia during the construction and repairing work at NJV. He said that Amur was associate professor of grade 19 but due to his critical attitude with the adopters , he was sidelined and even being transferred.

“Mahammud Qureshi principal of NJV is actually working for Akhuwat not for education department” he blamed, adding that NJV’s senior teachers and staff members are silent on the imperious actions of Akhuwat because the principal sends unfavorable reports of his own staff and even transfers them from NJV.

On the other hand, Akhuwat’s officials have also submitted a complaint letter in the office of Director Schools, Riaz Ahmed Siddique. In the letter they have explained that some of the staff members’ attitude is negative since the start and they were are involved in all sort of tricks to derail the adoption process.

“We have made a lot of efforts, by enforcing some positive policies in a government institute. Therefore some jealous people who were not performing their duties and are using the school as a hangout place are blaming Akhuwat. This is all was contributing to the poor performance of students and their dark future”, Nazir Tunio, senior official of Akhuwat explained.

“It was upon the government request that we took the adoption responsibility of NJV”, he added that administration has submitted their response regarding the complaints made by Nawaz Amur. The Additional Secretary, Shahid Islam has visited the NJV facility and facts have been presented to him.

He said that the useless trash was posing danger to students playing in the ground. All coddle formalities has been made to dispose it by the administration as it was of low value and the amount has been deposited in government treasury to clear the ambiguity.

“Regarding the sale of trash material, Shahid Islam visited the premises and had done a detailed interview with the principal and with us also”, informed Nazir Tunio , they did point out the attitude of Nawaz Amur and bought the attention towards his behavior and dealing with Akhuwat’s staff. “The next day an enquiry was conducted where we presented the request letter to dispose the items as per rules” he commented. The Principal Muhammad Ahmed Qureshi was not present in his office to comment about all those issues on Friday.
