Fazlur Rehman harming FATA interests: MNA Afridi

Author: Abdullah Malik

ISLAMABAD: FATA MNA Shah Jee Gul Afridi said on Sunday that there was no room for a separate province in the constitution. Talking to reporters at the Jamrood Press Club, he said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had no direct relation with FATA. “He is running a campaign for harm the interests of FATA. He has the support of government, but he does not do anything to lessen the miseries facing the tribal people,” Afridi said. “He never raises his voice for the victims of the war against terrorism. In Islamabad, Rehman tried to sabotage the reforms process to please some powerful faces. However, the people of FATA will never let him sabotage the reforms process,” he said. He said that Fazlur Rehman was part of the government when the FATA reforms proposals were formulated. “He did not object to them at that time. Now that the time has come to implement the proposals, he has started opposing them,” he said. He said that he had met USAID delegates to discuss development projects being run in the tribal areas. “I met US consulate officials. However, I have never visited UK. My enemies are running a defamation campaign against me,” he said. “With the support of the FATA youth, we will struggle for FATA’s merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.
