Problems in Larkana

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Larkana, the city of politicians, is in an abysmal condition. One would be shocked if one happens to visit Larkana. Heaps of garbage, broken roads, lack of gas pressure, loadshedding and shortage of potable water are some of the common and far-fetched problems of the city.

Today I would like to raise my voice against potable water. The problem of water supply in Larkana is quite dilapidated. I feel that tears are trickling down my checks because the PPP government and The Larkana Development Authority (LDA) have failed to provide citizens with potable water which is highly essential element and basic need of life.

Apart from this, not a single day passes when citizens do not long for potable water. Unavailability of safe drinking water is affecting the health of people. Moreover, people are falling prey to hepatitis after consuming contaminated water and costly treatment of this disease is another woe for the people.

In view of this, I would like to ask the PPP government that where are Rs120 billion allocated for the development of Larkana. I request the PPP government and Larkana Development Authority (LDA) to take suo moto notice against contaminated water and substandard bottled water. Besides this, water filtration plants must be installed across the city to provide potable water to the citizens.
