Musharraf rubbishes allegations of foreign assets

LAHORE: Former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf on Saturday denied allegations of acquiring foreign assets.

In his reply before the Lahore High Court, he said that he had not acquired any undeclared asset inside or outside the country and all his assets were legal and declared.

Musharraf’s lawyer Akhtar Shah submitted the reply to a petition against alleged foreign assets maintained by 64 personalities including incumbent and former rulers and their families, advocates and two ex-chief justices.

Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh would take up the petition on April 27.

Petitioner Javed Jafree had submitted that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his wife Kulsoom, son Hussain Nawaz, brother Shahbaz Sharif, Imran Khan and his former wife Jemima Khan, Yousaf Raza Gilani and his wife, Asif Zardari, Bilawal, Faryal Talpur, Nisar Ali Khan, former president Pervez Musharraf, former interior minister Rehman Malik, PML chief Chaudhry Shujaat, former CM Pervaiz Elahi, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Fazlur Rehman, Ishratul Ibad, Ghulam Mustafa Khar, Ayaz Sadiq, Farooq Sattar, Jahangir Tareen, Ishaq Dar, Sheikh Rasheed, Malik Riaz, Justice (r) Khawaja Sharif, Justice (r) Iftikhar Chaudhry, Hamid Khan, Asma Jahangir, Aitzaz Ahsan and his wife Bushra Aitzaz, Najam Sethi, Wasim Sajjad, Sharifuddin Peerzada and Ahmar Bilal Soofi had stashed billions of rupees abroad.
