Four girls kidnapped from twin cities

RAWALPINDI: At least four women were allegedly abducted from various areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Saturday.

The first abduction complaint was lodged with New Town Police. Saima, the complainant, told the police that her 22-year-old cousin had been abducted by unidentified suspects.

In the second incident, Niaz, father of another kidnapping victim, lodged a complaint with Jatli Police. “My wife has informed me over the phone that our daughter has been missing from home. I suspect that Adnan, Arsalan and Ghulam are behind the abduction of my daughter,” he told police.

Separately, Azam lodged a complaint with Golra Police that Umair and several of his accomplices had kidnapped his 18-year-old daughter.

Another citizen, Jamshed, on Saturday lodged a complaint with Peer Wadhai Police that some unidentified suspects had abducted his wife. “The kidnappers also took away Rs 20,000, gold and other valuables from the house,” he told police. Police said that they were investigating all the complaints.

ASI shot dead: An assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Chakwal Police was shot dead during a raid in the Noon Police precincts on Saturday.

According to media reports, a police party had raided a hideout to arrest a wanted criminal. “Imran was wanted by Chakwal Police. They received a tip-off that he was hiding in Dhok Maliar area of Noon Police precincts,” police said.

“Chakwal Police conducted a joint-raid along with Islamabad Police. The accused opened fire when he saw the police party. ASI Akhtar Hayat received gunshot wounds and died on the spot. The accused fled from the spot,” police said. The body was handed over to Chakwal Police following the conclusion of medico-legal formalities. Police have registered a case and are investigating.

Man gunned down: A 45-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified attackers within the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town Police.

According to police, Muhammad Zarakat, a resident of village Mohri Syedan Kahuto, was on his way home from a mosque when the incident occurred. “Two gunmen who were riding a motorcycle intercepted him and shot him several times at close range. The attackers then fled. Zarakat died on the spot,” police said.

Police said the attack was motivated by old enmity. The body was taken to a morgue for post-mortem examination. Police said they had registered a case. The homicide unit will investigate the murder.

One killed in shootout: A man was killed, while two others sustained injuries as rival groups clashed in Naseerbad Police precincts on Saturday.

Naseerabad SHO Nadeem Zafar said that the two groups had a property dispute. “A member of one of the groups, who was a private security guard opened fire on the second group. Three persons received bullet injuries. One of them later died,” Zafar said. He said that the deceased and the injured had been taken to a hospital. The deceased was later identified as Muhammad Ali. The injured are: Chaudhry Nasir Javed and Muhammad Babar. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Drug peddlers arrested: Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested by Rawat Police on Saturday. According to police, the two allegedly sold drugs to students at educational institutions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

“A raid was conducted on their hideout. Police arrested the two suspects who were involved in selling drugs to university students in various academic institutions of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. A total of 400 heroine pills were seized,” police said.

Police said that the pills had been smuggled from Denmark and Holland. “An employee of Excise Department Peshawar had provided the pills to the drug peddlers,” police said. A case has been registered against the accused.
