Christians celebrate Easter today

LAHORE: The Christian community is all set to celebrate Easter today (Sunday) amid tight security in the provincial capital. According to details, sunrise services will be held at 4:30am in most of churches across the city. Prior to the sunrise services, choir processions will also be taken out. The main services will be held at the Lahore Cathedral and Sacred Heart Cathedral churches where Bishop of Lahore (Church of Pakistan) Irfan Jameel and Arch Bishop Sebastian Shah (Roman Catholic Church) will lead prayer services. Samuel Azriah will lead a prayer service at the Cathedral Church on Waris Road. For the purpose, more than 12,000 police officials would perform security duties. However, 125 churches have been declared highly sensitive by the city police. Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ after he was crucified. Special Easter services will be held in nearly 500 churches in the city.
