LAHORE: As part of the National Immunization Day, a three-day anti-polio campaign in Punjab will start today (Monday).
The campaign will target 18.7 million under-five children. Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir directed the authorities concerned to ensure that all campaign targets are achieved.
Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Ali Jan Khan said that the department had constituted over 44,000 teams, including mobile, fixed and transit teams.
Meanwhile, the minister has appealed to parents to get their children vaccinated against polio.
“Punjab is focusing on Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore districts because of recent positive environmental samples,” said Emergency Operation Coordinator Dr Munir Ahmed. “We are trying to reach out to mobile and migrant population coming from polio affected areas,” he added.
