KARACHI: A FIR is likely to be lodged against Nasir Abbas, Director General of Karachi Development Authority KDA for his alleged involvement in obtaining passport by not declaring his government employment and without providing NOC from Sindh Government.

A source in Federal Investigation Agency FIA told Daily Times that CFR report has been sent to the competent authority with the recommendation that registration of FIR was inevitable according to the evidences surfaced during the enquiry. “Now FIA officers are just waiting for endorsement from high-ups”, the source added.

“This matter was started when FIA received a letter from Directorate General Passport and Immigration Karachi office to investigate whether Nasir Abbas was eligible for new passport or not. In the letter about Nasir Abbas, written to Director FIA on December 22, 2016, Assistant Director of Regional Passport office Saddar, Azhar Hussain Kalwar, had informed that Nasir Abbas had applied for new passport but during process it was found that his previous passport which was declared lost was issued to him as businessman but in the new application has had mentioned his profession as Government Service thus the case was referred for necessary action.

Instead of conducting an enquiry against misdeclaration according to the passport act the officials of FIA Anti Human Trafficking circle facilitated Nasir Abbas in obtaining new passport no KQ1013822 under the profession of Government Service, and for this purpose a subordinate of Nasir Abbas met with the FIA officials and got new the passport, source told. “All this happened at the instructions from high-ups of Sindh Zone and the officer of KDA sent by Nasir Abbas who made a phone call while sitting in FIA office and told Nasir Abbas that FIA officers were helping him”, source added
