ISLAMABAD: Russian Ivan Nedelko clinched the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto ITF Futures Tennis Tournament men’s singles title after defeating Enrique Lopez-Perez of Spain at the Islamabad Tennis Complex here on Sunday. The 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory, apart leading the top seeded Nedelko to the honour, helped him to avenge his defeat to second-seeded Lopez-Perez in their last face-off the final of the recently concluded Kulsum Saifullah ITF Futures Tennis Tournament. Both players were the treat to watch throughout the match but Lopez-Perez failed to reproduce the killer instinct he displayed in his last title triumph. The event, third of it’s kind held in the country within a month, featured around 27 foreign players from various countries including Germany, France, Canada, Russia, Austria, Ukraine, India and Spain. “Holding three international events is highly motivating for local players who have taken inspiration from the foreign ones during this time,” said former Davis Cup player Hameedul Haq.
